Countries differ enormously in how developed they are. A child born today in Switzerland can expect to reach 83, attend school for around 16 years, and live in a country with a GNI per capita above $90,000. A child born the same day in Sierra Leone can expect to reach 60, attend school for around 10 years, and live in a country with a GNI per capita below $2,000.
This topic explains why those gaps exist, what developed and developing countries look like, and what strategies developing countries can use to close the gap.
