Answer out loud before flipping
Say the definition first. Recognising the right answer when you see it is not the same as being able to produce it.
Be strict with yourself
Only mark a card as known if you produced the whole definition. Half-right in your head is nought in the exam.
Little and often
Ten minutes a day beats an hour once a week. Spacing is what moves a definition into long-term memory.
